'Harry Potter' e-books may spell cash for J.K. Rowling

'Harry Potter' e-books may spell cash for J.K. Rowling

Today has to be a huge relief for backpacks and bookshelves, since they'll no longer have to hold 20 pounds of Harry Potter paperbacks. J.K. Rowling has finally freed the series from her own chamber of secrets, putting them on sale as e-books through her Pottermore website. "Today is a great day for Harry Potter fans and e-book readers alike," said Charlie Redmayne, Pottermore's chief executive and owner of the greatest-ever job title. The delayed release was reportedly due to Rowling retaining the digital rights to the books, which means she'll keep more of the profit. We certainly hope e-sales will bump her back up to billionaire status, 'cause there's nothing worse than store-brand Butterbeer.
